Cristiano Ronaldo extends stay at Al Nassr, the Portugal captain wants to score 1000 goals before he contemplates retirement

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a two-year contract extension with Al Nassr, keeping him at the Saudi Pro League club until June 2027, past his 42nd birthday. The deal, announced on June 26, 2025, ends speculation about his future after a cryptic social media post hinted at a possible departure. Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr in December 2022, has scored 99 goals in 111 appearances for the club, bringing his career total to 938 (794 club goals, 138 for Portugal). His ambition is to reach 1,000 career goals, a milestone he’s acknowledged may be challenging but is within reach given his scoring rate of 35 goals in 41 matches last season. He also aims to lead Portugal at the 2026 World Cup, which would be his sixth appearance, chasing the one major trophy missing from his career. Despite his individual success, Al Nassr finished third in the Saudi Pro League last season and has yet to win a major trophy with Ronaldo, though he led them to the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup. The contract reportedly includes a massive salary of around €185-200 million annually, with perks like a signing bonus, private jet credits, and a potential ownership stake in the club.
